Topic: The State of Semiconductors

This month Brian Degnan will give a short talk on the state of the semiconductor industry as we approach the death of Moore's Law. There will be a summary of the power wall and the memory wall, and what keeps the latest and greatest CPUs from achieving the substantial increases in speed and power efficiency that were seen at previous nodes. Also, the problems seen over the past few years at 14nm, and future projected problems in fabrication will be discussed and what wild and crazy ideas to knock us back up to speed will be shown.

Plus we'll have the usual sharing and discussion of industry news, rumors, etc...

Room 152 is on the east side of Baker-Berry Library (facing College Street). If you come in through the door on that side, go up two flights of stairs.
